REVIEW: BUY A TICKET TAKE THE RIDE
26 Jul 2007
Although it's not excactly Siren related and I really did have better things to do, somehow the urgency was overshadowed by a sharp hangover, and inside a dark theatre was the place to be. So in an attempt to be productive I'll sum up the experience:
AND SO IT BEGINS - MIFF IS HERE
26 Jul 2007Last night the 56th Melbourne International Film Festival launched with a bang at the Regent Theatre and the Australian premiere of Mike Moore's new polemic, Sicko. A special mention needs to be made of the surprise opening short, Remember My Name, which added a wonderfully Melbourne touch before we launched into the evils of the American health care industry.
'THE SHINING PATH' EXHIBITION AND LAUNCH PARTY
24 Jul 2007
To coincide with the screenings of Alejandro Jodorowsky's El Topo and The Holy Mountain at the Melbourne International Film Festival we are putting on a very special exhibition of local artists at the Carlton Club & Studios.
Presented by Siren Visual, Neon Parc and ThreeThousand, The Shining Path is a unique collection of psychedelic, abstract, and free-form works. Chosen for their synergy and sympathy with the bizarre world of Jodorowsky this group showing draws the viewer into a world where sensuality and absurdity are one and the same.
NOW AND THEN, HERE AND THERE
24 Jul 2007
As part of an effort to do justice to our humble anime catalogue (see X) we sourced new materials and last week re-released the classic Now and Then, Here and There. This wonderful, profoundly dark anime series is now available in a way that accurantly represents its critical acclaim, and a way we're truly proud of.

We are working on including all of the more technical aspects about our releases (language, subtitles, etc) and this information for our entire catalogue should be up in the next day or so, along with the shopping cart. Thanks for your patience!
SAMURAI SERIES - AN END WITHOUT A CLIMAX
20 Jul 2007
Here’s the deal. For the last 8 months we have been in negotiation with our Japanese counterpart to license the final 3 series of the original Samurai TV show, and despite our best efforts, the demands made are completely unreasonable, and do not constitute what we see as an ‘agreement’ of any kind. As it stands Series 1-6 will be available to purchase until the end of October, and then unfortunately….this is where Shintaro’s story will end for his fans....
RICHARD DAWKINS INTERVIEW
20 Jul 2007
Richard Dawkins on NPR talking about his childhood and upbringing, along with thoughts on a responsible approach to education. Richard Dawkins is the author of the international best-selling book "The God Delusion," and we are releasing on DVD his documentary "Root of All Evil?" on the 9th of August. ...
THE FILMS OF ALEJANDRO JODOROWSKY AT MIFF
19 Jul 2007
The 56th Melbourne International Film Festival is just around the corner. Always an exciting time of year for us, and we’re especially proud to announce two very special late-night screenings of the original ‘midnight movies’ – Alejandro Jodorowsky’s El Topo and The Holy Mountain.
HERE IT IS, BAM!
17 Jul 2007
Welcome! We're finally live and loving it! Welcome to the new Siren Visual site, have a play, keep in mind we've still got a list of 2000 things that need to get done, and know that we're proud, so proud, of what our mates at Shabby Robe and Small Studio have done for us....
