    27 Jul 2007

Yesterday I kicked off the Festival with a couple of back-to-back screenings - a good to get into the rhythm of the Festival.
  • JODOROWSKY & RRR

    27 Jul 2007

Kind of funny actually, as we're Tony Wilson fans. Here and Here - Make sure to listen to Film Buff's Forcast over the weekend for a chance to win some double passes to both screenings.
  • REVIEW: BUY A TICKET TAKE THE RIDE

    26 Jul 2007

Although it's not excactly Siren related and I really did have better things to do, somehow the urgency was overshadowed by a sharp hangover, and inside a dark theatre was the place to be. So in an attempt to be productive I'll sum up the experience:

  • AND SO IT BEGINS - MIFF IS HERE

    26 Jul 2007

The Regent TheatreLast night the 56th Melbourne International Film Festival launched with a bang at the Regent Theatre and the Australian premiere of Mike Moore's new polemic, Sicko. A special mention needs to be made of the surprise opening short, Remember My Name, which added a wonderfully Melbourne touch before we launched into the evils of the American health care industry.
  • 'THE SHINING PATH' EXHIBITION AND LAUNCH PARTY

    24 Jul 2007

The Holy Mountain roundtableTo coincide with the screenings of Alejandro Jodorowsky's El Topo and The Holy Mountain at the Melbourne International Film Festival we are putting on a very special exhibition of local artists at the Carlton Club & Studios.

Presented by Siren Visual, Neon Parc and ThreeThousand, The Shining Path is a unique collection of psychedelic, abstract, and free-form works. Chosen for their synergy and sympathy with the bizarre world of Jodorowsky this group showing draws the viewer into a world where sensuality and absurdity are one and the same.

This wonderful, profoundly dark anime series is now available in a way that accurantly represents its critical acclaim, and a way we're truly proud of.

  • SAMURAI SERIES - AN END WITHOUT A CLIMAX

    20 Jul 2007

Here’s the deal. For the last 8 months we have been in negotiation with our Japanese counterpart to license the final 3 series of the original Samurai TV show, and despite our best efforts, the demands made are completely unreasonable, and do not constitute what we see as an ‘agreement’ of any kind. As it stands Series 1-6 will be available to purchase until the end of October, and then unfortunately….this is where Shintaro’s story will end for his fans....

  • RICHARD DAWKINS INTERVIEW

The 56th Melbourne International Film Festival is just around the corner. Always an exciting time of year for us, and we’re especially proud to announce two very special late-night screenings of the original ‘midnight movies’ – Alejandro Jodorowsky’s El Topo and The Holy Mountain.
