THE GENIUS PARTY IS BRILLIANT FOR SEVEN REASONS. HERE'S #1
30 Apr 2009
#1: GENIUS PARTY
A barren desert filled with deep red and orange. A bird-like creature runs across the terrain in an awkward, primitive way. It looks hungry. Tribal/techno beats grow in intensity, like watching the sun about to rise on a 50c degree day.
Director Atusko Fukushima's got it, as she should. She's worked at some of Japan's most groundbreaking studios including Madhouse and Annapuru before going freelance in the late 80's. She's responsible for the key animation in AKIRA, among many other films, TV series and OVA programs that span over 25 years. No way could anyone achieve such...

As David struggles to achieve his place in the pantheon of Spain's greatest bullfighters, he is confronted by those who question the place of this ancient and brutal ritual in the modern world."Stripping away centuries of civilization, The Matador confronts something primal in human nature, daring us to do the same." IF YOU'RE HEADED TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC THIS JULY...
29 Apr 2009
Make sure to stop into the town of Karlovy Vary. The eclectic film festival, now in it's 44th year, will take on some of the latest releases from a very exciting film scene that's starting to blossom over in Eastern Europe.
In addition to the solid lineup (which includes the new film from Taxidermia director Gyorgy Palfi"I Am Not Your Friend" and the premier of the new Milos Foreman film "A Walk Worthwhile") is a tribute to the animation extraordinare Jan Svankmajer (Little Otik, Conspirators of Pleasure, Alice).
The 44th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival takes place July 3–11. Having a look at that photo I reckon I'll be heading there myself!

MURAKAMI & LOUIS VUITTON MADE A DAMNED COOL CLIP
27 Apr 2009
We don't usually dive too deeply into the cute side of anime unless there's a much, much darker thing going on underneath.
This time, however, I'll pass it on. About a week ago I read on Anime News Network about the French handbag manufacture and renowned artist Takashi Murakami coming together to make this short, surreal, ultra-cool film clip that if nothing else is a great little trip to take.

Throughout the week we'll be updating the site to reflect the new releases we're putting out over the next few months, and our shift a little closer towards the anime market.
I'll start w/ Nightwalker, a dark, gory and yes a bit cheesy vampire private-eye tale which we've ressurected in the form of a new transfer, encoding and authoring, as well as artwork design. Released at the end of this month, you can pre-order it here.
'DIFFERENT STROKES' THEME SONG REVISITED

Wow. Remember Different Strokes? Creepy show.
FRIDAY LINK: QUIET LIBRARY
17 Apr 2009
What a classic. Have a look at Japanese show QUIET LIBRARY. Contestants sit in a library, silently being tortured and laughed at. Simple and pure. The odd man out is Ernesto "Mr Perfect" Hoost - a retired kickboxer. Too good not to share, so enjoy.

You may have noticed Hentai titles have been removed from our site.
The Hentai releases were badly merchandised in some retail stores which led to complaints, which led to the removal of the range.
We recognize there is a demand for these titles and we are doing what we can to continue the range. We expect to release new titles but at this stage we cannot say when - maybe in the fourth quarter this year.
In the meantime you can visit the new home for hentai: www.hentaicollection.com.au ...
#AMAZONFAIL & WHAT IT MEANS FOR #SIREN
14 Apr 2009
While we took the Easter Holiday literally and relaxed, there was a huge current of angst spreading across the internet at unprecedented speads, thanks to the social networking mediums that have sprang up in the last few years. Finally....I get Twitter and how it can be useful!
Amazon stripped sales rankings from their Gay and Lesbian books, first reported on Mark Probst's blog here. What followed is a phenomina not seen before - an online version of a riot complete with Molotov cocktails and pitchforks.
The power behind the action of angry consumers fueled by the inaction of Amazon to comment (they initially denied it was anything more than a 'glitch' in their system) lead to the following activities, broken down by Jackie Huba here.
The underlying message is that companies can't control what consumers see and think anymore. We'll do our best to take a page from this - please contact us anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org
OUR TWITTER ACCOUNT IS ANSWERING ANIME QUESTIONS....

We're using it as a means to reply to some of the discussions we're not allowed to join in on (I don't blame them for not allowing us either). If interested, go here to get some answers and email us at email@example.com if you want to get in touch directly.
